OUR LIGHTHOUSE OF HOPE

“Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the Lord.”
Psalm 31:24 KJV

Not only is Jesus our Saviour, He is also our rock, our refuge, our lighthouse of love and our lighthouse of hope. One of the definitions for hope in Webster’s Dictionary is “to expect with confidence”. We can expect with confidence that Jesus will do what He says He will do because we can trust Him.

Evangelist Judson Wheeler Van DeVenter wrote the beautiful hymn “I Surrender All”. It is not only a beautiful hymn; it is also one of my favorite hymns. “All to Jesus, I surrender; All to Him I freely give; I will ever love and trust Him, In His presence daily live.” Have we given Him everything? Do we really trust Him?

When things go wrong and we are in the middle of a crisis, do we trust Him to take care of us? It is one thing to say that we trust Him; it’s another thing to prove that we trust Him. We can fool others but we can’t fool Him. Jesus knows our heart and He knows if we really trust Him or if we are giving Him lip service.

Heavenly Father, thank You for sharing Your beloved Son with us. Jesus, thank You for being our lighthouse of hope in a world that is filled with disappointments and heartaches. There are times when we get discouraged and we feel like giving up. How wonderful it is to know that we can depend on You. Amen.
