WE NEED TO STOP JUDGING
“The discretion of a man deferreth his anger; and it is his glory to pass over a transgression.”
Proverbs 19:11 KJV
We have a choice when someone hurts us. We can get angry and tell the person off or we can choose to forgive the one who hurt us and pray for that person. God is the judge of people not us and it is time we stop judging people and allow God to do His job.
We don’t know what is going on in the heart of the person who hurts us. Only Jesus can see into our heart and He knows and understands why we act the way we do. If someone hurts us, instead of getting angry and yelling at the person, we need to walk away from the situation.
If our spouse hurts us, we should go into another room instead of saying hurtful words. Once we say harsh and cruel words, they can never be taken back. The ones we hurt can forgive us but the cruel words we say remain in their heart like bleeding wounds and only Jesus can heal the wounds in a heart.
We can’t forgive people in our own strength. It is Jesus working in our heart that helps us forgive the ones who hurt us. It is important to remember that we too hurt people. No one is perfect. There is only one perfect person who ever lived or ever will live and His name is Jesus. He never hurt anyone.
Heavenly Father, please forgive us for judging people. Help us to remember that You are the judge, not us. I pray that we will forgive those who hurt us just as You forgive us when we hurt You. Thank You for the many times You have forgiven me. We love You and we appreciate You. Amen.
